PMC And Copper.....

I took an all day class to learn the techniques of using PMC. It was the most amazing class! To think you can take clay and cut it into designs, dry it, sand it and barnish it and voila! It becomes fine silver??
I am continuing with some private classes so I can learn more about this wonderful medium! This is just the beginning....

(I made a larger piece that I am working on now. Just deciding whether to solder it to brass or not).

Lookie What I`ve Learned!.....

I`ve been taking a class close where I live for the last month and this is a six week course! Our incredible instructor is Fran and she does some beautiful work!
The classes have been all about the artistry of jewelry. Here is what I`ve learned.....

I took raw cuts of copper, etched and colored them, and then turned them into these cuffs.....

I never knew you could take 18 gauge wire and make these Cleopatra Coils! One is copper that is nickel free and lead free, the other sterling over copper....

Metal smithing maybe not be my favorite. I took a piece of copper, drew the design, cut it, hammered it, torched it and formed it into these calla lillies. You have to use alot of muscle. Twisting and turning the metal was hard on my joints. I love the finished project though!

I love learning new techniques and making new friends. I`ve met some incredibly talented jewelers at these classes. I look so forward to others in the future.... Two more weeks....Next up is PMC and Copper!

My First Bead Show!!

My Husband took me to a "small" bead show Saturday at the Nashville Fair Grounds! I was a little overwhelmed and all I kept hearing was "This is a small show. Just wait until the big show in October." I had a blast and bought some beautiful beads and findings! I`ll have to ponder a bit about the larger one to come!

I`m wearing my beautiful mermaid earrings my friend LuLu Kellogg made for me. I love them!

<

I left with a couple of bags full of gems and beautiful findings. I can see why some women spent a lot more than me. My favorites are the rubies and pink sapphires. Now, what will I make and when will I find time to play with them?.....

Mermaid Love......

I have enjoyed playing with
Catherine Moore`s stamps! When I saw these mermaids, I knew I had to have them! I stamped the images and then created this canvas.
I found the sweet mermaid soap dish at a local antique shop for 60% off! How cute is she??

Last year I created this piece to display some of my photos from Sanibel Island and some sweet mermaids. It hangs in my bathroom. I love to recap the great memories and look at my mermaid art! It helps to have a little whimsy around...Life is serious enough!

I hope you have a little whimsy around your house too. It helps to put a smile on your face on even the most serious days....
